The Food Freak
“Respect for food is respect for life, for who we are and what we do.” -Thomas Keller
How does a girl from America's heartland who chose to celebrate her straight A report card in the 6th grade at Ponderosa come to know anything about dining in this capital of gastronomy? Well, maybe the same way I got those grades in the 6th grade- study. Along with the cookware that is precariously stacked in my one-bedroom apartment are back issues of Food and Wine, New York magazine, years of Zagats, and files upon files of recipes and food-related articles. What were the best Chicago restaurants in 2000? Let me check my file. Best New Chef in 2004? Hold on. The guide to a perfect Thanksgiving? Right here in a binder- laminated pages of course . I am a food geek.
I love going out to new restaurants as much as I love trying new recipes and throwing a cocktail party. Celebrity sightings are always a thrill but if there is a chef sighting be warned as I won't stop talking about it for weeks. Don't even get me started about bumping into Thomas Keller in Napa. I will go on for days…..
So, while I certainly don't claim to be an expert - I am passionate about food and New York and believe they should be celebrated inside and out!
